Little Umbrellas
This is a pattern with a story, and it’s a story I am excited to share! It all begins in Chiang Mai, Thailand over the summer. My sister and I stayed in the most amazing hotel that was filled with art from various Thai artists. The hotel served breakfast each morning and had tables around the bottom floor near different pieces, I fell in love with two in particular and one inspired this pattern. In addition to this painting I was also inspired by a dress I had as a child, it was a Lilly Pulitzer dress with a paper lantern pattern on it, I think you can see how the two came together to inspire this piece that will then lead to a pattern that is in the works. The Painting
Here is the painting I had the privilege of dining next to for several morning at the Makkachiva, it is called Lanna Market by Mr. Pornchai Chaima. The umbrellas are what struck me and got this whole concept started! The second I saw this painting I thought of the motif and here we are!
The Dress
Here is little me in the Lilly dress that prompted the style! The colors were inspired by this dress and I loved the design, from the painting of all the umbrellas it made me think of this dress and the rest came out on the page!
