love letter to my bedroom
I am passionate about interior design, custom textile design and custom art pieces. I take pride in my space and think it really reflects who I am. Creating a space that feels like home has been a challenge since I am currently a renter and the apartment is pretty small space. I have kept my major furniture pieces neutral; I love black, white and gray. All the personality comes in through accessories! I love to paint and have been able to incorporate pieces I’ve made in each room of my place.
With my apartment being so small, the rooms are all pretty connected so there is a cohesive feeling throughout. Soft colors, continued textiles, white walls and a good amount of pink have come together to create space prefect to relax and unload.
My bedroom is my absolute favorite room. I have painted black and natural wood furniture pieces, both new and old. I have simple bedding with a little flair, and large window with tons of natural light. I think this space really reflects my personality most fully because the art pieces I've selected to hang are some of my favorites. One is above my bed, a watercolor of a leopard. He is very relaxed and appears to be taking a cap nap of his own, leopards are one of my favorite animals and it really brings me joy. The other is a painting of a women from the back of her head with a beautiful scarf wrapped around her hair. I love these pieces because of how they make me feel. My scarf lady was a gift from a dear friend and makes me think of her and the leopard was something I painted while living with my sister.
Travel is very important to me and both hint at what is out there in the world allowing me to dream of places I wish to go. Small global influences exist elsewhere in this room and the rest of my apartment. I love pieces I’ve picked up along the way that keep me inspired and in a constant state of wanderlust. Home to me is a place that doesn’t hold you back, it’s a place that pushes you out into the world knowing you have a sanctuary waiting for you when you return.
So bedroom, thanks for always being a safe place to call home.
